2016 – a Summary of the year’s successes

Sorry, but I don’t have photos.  Instead, here are the competitive results.

Rob Law (Norwood LBC) won the Junior Singles and travelled to Vancouver, where he won a Silver Medal in the Under-18 Singles category.  He also entered the North American Challenge as one of a Triples team and won a Gold Medal.

John Bjornson not only won the Men’s Singles in Winnipeg:  he then attended Nationals in Edmonton and won a Silver Medal.  Then he took a trip to Vancouver, where he won Silver in the Indoor Singles.  As if that were not enough travelling, he went to Helensvale, Australia, where he represented us in the World Champion of Champions event.

In Women’s Triples, Elaine Jones, Betty Van Walleghem, & Sandra Mulholland won the event and represented Manitoba at Nationals in Edmonton, winning Gold Medals.

In Mixed Pairs, Betty & Bob Van Walleghem represented Manitoba at Nationals in St. Catharines, bringing home two Silver Medals.

In Mixed Pairs, Elaine Jones visited Fredericton, NB, and won Bronze.

In Women’s Senior Triples, Clarice Fitzpatrick, Sandra Mulholland, and Betty Van Walleghem brought back three Bronze medals from Halifax.

In Women’s Fours, the team of Shirley Fitzpatrick-Wong & Clarice Fitzpatrick (both from Sargent Park) with Marilyn Baron & Michelle Palichuk (both from Tuxedo) won locally and represented Manitoba in Nationals in Edmonton.

2016 National Attendees

As well as the playoffs and the provincial events, there was the 55+ Triples event, held in Brandon, Manitoba, at Wheat City LBC – where (on their 100th anniversary — the club’s not the players) these pictures were snapped:
